GALLERY: Children hop to find where the Easter bunny hid the eggs

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Children learn how the library works while they have fun searching for Easter eggs.

Even though Easter is finished and all the bunnies have hopped away, this did not stop the Weltevreden Park Library from having an Easter egg hunt as part of their holiday programme for children.

A packed library saw many children of many different ages being entertained with games and songs, before starting the much-anticipated Easter egg hunt. Local actress, Vernicha Coetzee came to the library to play games with the children and entertained them with her very bubbly and outgoing personality.

Librarian, Sandy Visser had the children play a game of yes and no where the children had to ask questions to one another, and answer without saying yes or no. This game had children laughing and sometimes squabbling as they tried to catch each other out for a sweet reward. Even Coetzee, Visser and librarian, Esther Masunguini got involved in the game.

When it was announced that the Easter egg hunt would start, the children jumped up and down with excitement. The hunt was strategically planned to teach children about the layout of the library and where they can find the books that they are looking for. Visser took the children through the shelves to teach them about the different sections. Each child received a card with a riddle on and they had to find a picture of an Easter egg in the specific book.

Afterwards the children received Easter eggs as a reward. Zani Jacobs (5) said that she came especially to partake in the hunt and was very excited to participate.
