HONEYDEW – CT Group owner hosts golf day to raise funds for the NPO Judah Africa.

Ceiling and Partitions Warehouse (CT) Group owner Chris Taylor hosted a golf day on 16 October at the Jackal Creek Golf Estate to raise funds for the NPO Judah Africa.

Taylor explained that the CT Group, a building-equipment selling company, decided to take on Judah Africa as the organisation is located close to them and he has a passion for the work they do.

Judah Africa chairperson Carla-Lee Kamp said the NPO helps residents in the Kya Sands Informal Settlement through various projects.

She said currently they are busy with five projects that are mostly funded by the CT Group.

She added that they are building a school, a community kitchen and a community centre.

“We are also busy with an agricultural development programme and we feed 1 260 people weekly,” Kamp said.

She further explained that the organisation originally initiated by her mother Belinda Kamp, was started 18 years ago.

“The orginisation started off as a school-holiday club for children in the Kya Sands Informal Settlement and then led to a soup kitchen. Soon thereafter we started taking on bigger projects,” Kamp said and added that the organisation also works closely with government.

“We hosted the first ever science fair in an informal settlement with the help of the Science and Technology Department, City Parks and the Johannesburg Zoo,” explained Kamp.

Kamp said the CT Group’s efforts are greatly appreciated among the community members.
