Allen Glen welcomes new teachers

"I look forward to teaching the learners and to assist them to become the best version of themselves.”

For the 2020 academic year, Allen Glen High School (AGHS) welcomed a total of seven new staff members to the school.

The Northsider paid the school a visit and had a brief chat with the visibly excited and determined new group of educators.

“Since joining AGHS in June last year, staff and students alike have made me feel welcome. I am looking forward to sharing my experience and skills here before retiring in a few years’ time,” said new Afrikaans teacher, Adri Wheeler.

New teachers typically approach the first day of school with a mixture of anxiety and excitement, but at the end of the day their love for children and educating them see them through.

Teacher Carintha Holtzhausen said, “I did my practical at AGHS a few years back. Since then I haven’t experienced any other system that functions so well, with educators who not only love to teach the learners but also empower the future generation of teachers. It is a privilege for me to be part of this amazing team. I look forward to teaching the learners and to assist them to become the best version of themselves.”
