Dancer receives international recognition

Local dancer secures gold and silver medals at the prestigious American Dance Awards.

Dancing sensation Carissa Lombard made her mark with an outstanding performance at the American Dance Awards (ADA) in Pretoria on September 26.

Representing Charter College International High School, the competition attracted the top dancers from across South Africa.

The ADA has set the industry standard for dance competitions, conventions and events for over 40 years. The South African Tour serves as a platform for dancers to qualify for the ADA National Championships held in the United States of America.

Lombard took to the stage as part of a senior group and dazzled judges with her skill and artistry, securing a coveted gold medal. Just three days later, she competed again in a teen group category and earned an impressive High Silver medal.

Her achievements not only demonstrate her passion for dance but place her in a high category against competing dancers, securing a spot in the nationals.
