Hoërskool Roodepoort hosts Mr and Miss Roodie
Glitz, glamour and glory: Mr and Miss Roodie 2024.
The Mr and Miss Roodie pageant made a dazzling return after a 10-year hiatus and once again took centre stage with glamour, talent and excitement while showcasing the best of Hoërskool Roodepoort’s learners.
This prestigious event took place on August 14 and was organised by teacher Celine Koekemoer and hosted by Roodie alumni and now content creator and influencer, Gillian Seetso.
A talented troupe of 35 finalists, comprising both junior and senior contestants, competed for glory in this esteemed competition, showcasing the cream of the crop in a captivating display of skill and charisma.
According to Celine, the event saw great support and results from parents, learners, the school committee and a variety of sponsors that made it all possible.
“With this year’s event being the first one in many years, I would say that it was very successful. The finalists worked extremely hard and enjoyed every moment on stage. There were smiles all around, and to me that means success.
“Mr and Miss Roodie carries great significance as it is part of our Roodie culture. It is an old Roodie tradition that we have decided to bring back once again, and we are extremely blessed that our first one in so many years turned out this successful,” she said.
There were a variety of categories that the contestants stood a chance for, ranging from Mr. and Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality and Mr Personality, Mr and Miss Debutante and the Prince and the Queen.
In the senior department, Nombulelo Vacu is the reigning Roodie Queen 2024, Keletso Tshoane is the reigning Mr Roodie King 2024, and Karabo Kwathlai took Miss Roodie Junior 2024.
