Harvey case postponed

Mark Harvey will appear in court to face an indictment with the case possibly moved to the High Court.

The heartbreaking loss of Marishka Davids and Zakkiyah Rayman still resonates deeply with their families, who continue to navigate the painful aftermath of their brutal murders.

Mark Harvey, who was arrested for murder, made another appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on August 14.

Harvey (44), was charged for the alleged murder of Marishka Davids (30) and Zakkiyah Rayman (38) after he doused them both with petrol and set them alight in the early hours of February 11 in Florida. Rayman died seven days after the attack and Davids died at the end of February.

As the families of the victims seek justice, they feel slightly hopeful by the prosecutor informing the court that the case will be transferred to the High Court, “I feel a sense of relief that this matter will be taken to the High Court, where I know justice will be served for our daughters,” said Mandy Davids, Merishka Davids’ mother.

With the indictment set to be issued on Harvey’s next appearance on August 22, the families are bracing themselves for the trial ahead. Though the journey will undoubtedly be difficult, they remain united in their quest for justice, and Davids added, “We will remain strong for our children and stand together as a family.”
