Toastmaster hero celebrated

Local toastmaster travels overseas to receive presidential citation award.

Tim Knights, a dedicated member of the Florida Toastmasters Club, has been awarded the esteemed Presidential Citation, which is one of the organisation’s highest honours.

This remarkable achievement recognises Tim’s unwavering commitment and contributions to Toastmasters, and he will accept the award at the international convention in Anaheim, United States of America, where over 3 000 people from across the globe will attend this award ceremony.

Tim first joined this organisation in March 1984 and has done exceptionally well throughout the years and earned himself positions like club president and district governor.

Toastmasters is an international educational organisation that builds confidence in individuals and teaches public speaking and leadership skills through clubs that meet online or in person.

This organisation therefore has courses or educational programmes that allow individuals to access them so that they can use them whether in the workplace, social settings or with family.

Speaking to the Roodepoort Record, Tim mentioned that the presidential citation is bestowed upon certain members who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership and service to the organisation.

“I’m floating, and it’s unbelievable that I’m going to receive this award. I’m currently the only one from South Africa who is going to receive this one, and four other people before me have received it.

“I have started over 22 years of club and built relationships with other organisations so that they can use Toastmasters, and I have helped a lot of people throughout this time,” Tim said.
