Parkrunners push their limits

The Roodepoort parkrun held one of the most popular events of its kind.

The Roodepoort parkrun once again attracted large numbers of runners on August 3.

Whether for fitness or fun, this course is fast becoming a favourite among runners, who descend on Florida Park from far and wide to test their mettle, running only to improve their own personal best times.

Dzunani Baloyi finishes in second place.

The slightly warmer weather on the Saturday made for ideal running conditions and runners dug deep, pushing their limits to make excellent times.

Maryna Bijker was the first woman over the line.

Several runners achieved personal best times, and as usual, there were many celebrating milestones.

Lee-Anne Smith finishes her 50th parkrun.

Cornè de Fouw once again won the men’s race by a comfortable margin in a time of 20:09, followed by Dzunani Baloyi, with Hlahla Obert taking third place.

Herman de Klerk and his lab Stellar enjoy the parkrun.

The women’s race was won by Maryna Bijker in a time of 22:41.

Gerrie du Preez completed his 250th Parkrun, while Lee-Anne Smith made her 50th.

Long-time volunteer Glynnis Tunmer also celebrated a milestone, having volunteered at the parkrun 200 times.
