Undefeated from his previous attempt, young boxer Shane du Plooy from the Vikings Boxing Club has successfully secured himself a spot in the South African team once again.
The SA’s are set to take place in August in Tshwane and Shane is very proud that his hard work and perseverance have been rewarded with a second chance after his initial attempt fell short.
Shane’s journey in boxing started when he was just eight years old, and he was very determined to make a name for himself.
“I’m very proud of myself for making the SA team again and grateful to all my coaches for making this possible for me.
“Having this opportunity again means a lot to me because it shows the efforts and results that I have been putting in the eight years of my boxing career,” he said.
Speaking to the Roodepoort Record, coach Xander Dutton expressed his extreme pride in this young man.
“We prepared Shane for the SA’s by getting him to train every day, at home and in the club. The SA’s are going to take place at the end of August, and we are currently trying to get more sparring for him in other clubs as well,“ said Xander.
