Help foundation to make a difference

The Johannesburg Care Foundation feeds 120 children per week and is pleading the community for winter donations.

As the cold winter season persists in the air, the Johannesburg Care Foundation, based in Florida, is issuing a heartfelt appeal to the community for support. They urgently require donations to continue providing essential services and warmth to those in need.

This foundation has, for many years, been a beacon of hope for children and the elderly in the community.

Llewellyn Ryan, the foundation’s founder and chairperson, told the Roodepoort Record that he established the organisation in 2012 to bridge the gap for the poor and disenfranchised. He claims the reason was the food security issue that children and the elderly face.

The foundation distributes about 3 000 meals per month through its poverty alleviation project, Soup Kitchen, which distributes sandwiches and cooked meals to informal settlements and other areas in Gauteng. They also assist the elderly through their blanket drive, especially during winter.

In collaboration with esteemed organisations, including the Impact Foundation, police, the Department of Education, and the Department of Correctional Services, the foundation also facilitates workshops to provide a platform for high school learners to engage in meaningful debates on pressing issues such as peer pressure, alcohol and drug abuse.

The foundation is appealing for donations of all kinds, including blankets, soup ingredients, and other essential items, to support its efforts in providing aid to the city’s most vulnerable populations. For more information, contact 011 046 8913.
