Teamwork makes the dream work

Constantia Kloof Primary's U12 netball team make their debut at the Gauteng Netball Championships.

The Gauteng Schools Netball (GSN) Primary School Netball Championships were hosted at Hoërskool Randburg on June 8, featuring selected teams that participated in a variety of tournaments and playoffs leading up to the championships.

Constantia Kloof Primary’s U12 netball team’s dream became a reality when they embarked on their journey to the GSN Championships for the very first time in 45 years.

Adri van Wyk, the coach, told the Roodepoort Northsider how she started with the team when they were still U10 and celebrated each win and loss together to get them to where they are today.

“The girls finally got the opportunity to play in the D12 playoffs after winning their league, then fearlessly conquered the Johannesburg and Mogale (JOMO) League and were selected for the Gauteng Champs. The girls were quite emotional, as this was their biggest goal, and for me as a coach, I know I led my girls to their victory,” Adri said.

“For the players, coaches, and supporters alike, this tournament represented more than just a chance to compete; it was an opportunity to showcase the talent, dedication, and teamwork that had brought them this far.

“As the team stepped onto the court for their first match, nerves were high, but so was their resolve to leave everything on the court and play their hearts out.”

“I told the girls to play their game and to just have fun, as this was not about winning or losing, but the hard work and determination they showed,” Adri added.

The team placed 13th overall out of 24 schools in Gauteng, which is a great achievement in their books.
