Squirrels score a win at LMS cricket league

The Razed by Squirrels team scored a win during their match against Babalas Blues placing them third on the log.

Last Man Stands (LSM) Roodepoort hosted their weekly eight-a-side cricket clash at the Crawford International Ruimsig fields on June 9 featuring local teams.

According to Roodepoort League Manager for LSM Ryan Botha, the teams played exceptionally well, and the beginner team, which only started recently, showed promise even though they lost their match.

“This is a great way for cricket lovers to spend the weekend playing the sport they are passionate about. The turnout was good and we would like to extend our range of cricket leagues to other venues where we are introducing a division two league and inviting nine teams to participate,” Ryan said.

Trenton Arthur, bowler for the Razed By Squirrels team, fearlessly led his team to victory, leaving an indelible mark on the game.

Arthur’s figures of 32 runs conceded, with an astonishing 10 wickets claimed, at a jaw-dropping economy rate of 1.00 stand as a testament to his mastery of the craft.

The crowd erupted in thunderous applause as Arthur delivered the final blow, claiming his 10th wicket as his teammates acknowledged the magnitude of his achievement.

Despite the best efforts of the opposition’s bowlers, the Squirrels continued to plunder runs at a blistering pace, ultimately posting an imposing total of 209 runs for the loss of just four wickets in their allotted 19.4 overs. The Babalas Blues could only manage to master a total of 125 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 17.4 overs.

The Squirrels emerged victorious, crushing their opponents by a staggering margin of 84 runs, placing them third on the LMS log. Their performance was nothing short of spectacular, a testament to their skill, determination, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
