Sisters selected for international dance competition

Local dancers seek sponsorship to make their dreams a reality.

Dancing sisters Anneke and Gerda van den Berg are hoping to get sponsorships to go to Namibia and represent the International Fine Arts Association (IFAA) SA team in the Island Championships.

Their parents, Elsabe and Tommie van den Berg are currently seeking sponsorships to help make their little girl’s dreams come true of competing internationally.

The sisters have been dancing for eight years and their mainstream dance is Hip Hop and Contemporary. The cost per participant is estimated at R10 000 and sponsors are essential to make this dream a reality for girls. The costs cover transport, accommodation, dance competition fees and dance costumes.

The girls participate in various competitions and are placed in the top three in their dance categories.
“I am extremely excited that I get to dance alongside my sister. We love dancing together and can’t wait to go to Namibia,” says Gerda.

Tommie and Elsabe emphasised how proud they were of the girls. “This is once in a lifetime opportunity and is a first for this competition of South Africa.”

The parents managed to save some funds and received help from Shamrock Truck Spares but are still in need of sponsorships for transportation.

To help the girls, call Tommie on 083 596 8504 or Elsabe on 076 966 0455.
