The King’s School West Rand: From the new principal’s desk

A message from the desk of new The King's School West Rand campus principal, Philip Theron.

• New campus principal of The King’s School West Rand, Philip Theron, writes:

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our families. We are grateful for the Lord’s protection over the festive season and look forward to a year when we will see our Father at work in our lives as we walk with Him in a relationship.

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it,” Proverbs 22:6 (ESV). Parenting, and Christian education, operate from the truth found here in Proverbs 22. We trust that the seeds we plant as parents and Christian educators will bear fruit in the lives of the children the Lord has entrusted to us. At The King’s School West Rand, character formation and discipleship of our learners is a fundamental part of our philosophy of education. We thank God for His faithfulness over all the years and pray that He will continue blessing the work of our hands as parents and teachers in the lives of our children.

As Mr Langley, Craig Rowe, and I were praying together and talking about the history of The King’s School West Rand last week, I was reminded of God’s faithfulness over the last 38 years. I doubt that the group of parents who were there at the inception of the school could imagine what God would do over the next almost four decades. The King’s Education group has grown to four campuses and partners with many others in Christian Education.

As a non-profit organisation, the authority of the school lies with our board of directors, who delegate the operational authority to Mr Langley, our executive principal. He, in turn, works with the individual campus principals of The King’s Education Group with oversight over the operational matters of the different schools. The schools are all in different seasons, and the areas of oversight by Mr Langley vary slightly according to the individual school.

As I move into the position of campus principal at the school, it is a privilege to continue working under the leadership of Mr Langley.

The two of us will continue working closely together as we pursue ‘Excellence in education to the glory of God’ – the vision of The Kings School West Rand.

The school has a strong, well-established executive and management team, many members of whom have served the school for many years, and Mr Langley will continue to guide us and ensure that the school delivers on our vision and mission.

The staff are excited about the year, and working with your children is a privilege that we do not take lightly. We look forward to connecting with you at one of the upcoming events. Please keep an eye out for important dates and information communicated in the King’s Ken and on the King’s Connect WhatsApp groups.

God bless our families.
