Local company donates to support people living with cancer

Staff members show their support for a worthy cause with a generous donation to Cansa.

Staff members from the Florida-based trade union, UASA The Union, made a generous donation to Cansa on October 27.

Abigail Moyo spokesperson for UASA said in a statement that, with October being observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the union’s staff members wanted to show support for those living with the life-threatening disease.

“UASA is proud of its staff members who donated money to assist Cansa with its initiatives shaped to assist those living with cancer. Staff members donated money to purchase the well-known pink breast cancer awareness and support ribbons. Additionally, more funds were donated towards Cansa’s cause to help cancer patients and support survivors,” their statement read.

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among women and breast cancer awareness month is observed nationwide to remind South Africans that they can all make a difference by supporting people living with cancer.

The statement concluded, “In our society and communities, we can all help to raise awareness, educate, and support each other to overcome this disease that has claimed many lives in South Africa and worldwide. The spirit of Ubuntu reminds us of our humanity, the significance of care, and support to one another in challenging times.”
