At about 00:21 on October 11, patrol units of Sub Rosa Security responded to reports of shots fired around Louanna Street in Kloofendal.
In a media statement issued by the security company, reaction officers conducted foot patrols, and established contact with a non-client who reported that two suspects gained entry into his property which he then confronted on the balcony.
One suspect pointed a firearm at the resident who retaliated by firing shots at the suspects with his licensed firearm.
Following a search of the area, the body of a suspect was found in the adjacent greenbelt area.
The deceased suffered a fatal gunshot wound in the chest and a screwdriver in his back pocket caused a puncture wound to his lower back when he jumped from the balcony.
Florida police were on the scene and confirmed the incident.
