Florida Blockwatch is calling for entries to their first-ever community fun run.
The four-race event will be held at Hoërskool Florida on September 30 with registration beginning at 7:30. Fun-runners will have the choice of a 2km, 4km, or 10km event, with teams able to participate in the five x 2km relay race. Entries can be done online at entryninja.com/events/79566-fbw-fun-run or on the day.
The 2km race begins at 8.30 with the next races starting in 30-minute intervals. The five x 2km relay race begins at 10:30 giving runners the chance to recharge from the earlier races.
Pre-entry fees are R55 per adult with race day registrations costing R75 per adult. Students get in for R25 pre-registered or R35 on the day while retirement home residents participate for free.
Relay race teams need to consist of five runners with categories for primary school, high school, corporate and club teams.
“We encourage all residents to participate and bring unity and comradery to our community. There will be food and drinks available as well as various stalls selling homemade arts and crafts,” urged the Florida Blockwatch committee.
