Cornerstone Compassionate Ministries are committed to fostering relationships with every meal given

The ministry prides itself on fostering relationships with each person they help.

Cornerstone Compassionate Ministries of the Nazarene Church has been serving the community with food, clothing, and care packages and said that they believe in building connections with each meal handed out.

The feeding scheme feeds over 200 people per week.

The feeding scheme takes place every Tuesday and Thursday at the church and sees over 200 people receiving a warm plate of food and drinks every week. The church also cited that they believe everyone needs to be given an employment opportunity and as such help men and women with CVs, and where possible, clothes for interviews.

The church is involved in an array of projects and said that they are working on a senior citizen’s club where the seniors can meet and interact – providing the perfect escapism for those who feel ‘trapped inside their homes’, and also have outreach programmes for drug and alcohol abuse, rehabilitation and support groups, and distributes food and blankets, sleeping bags, etc., at dumping sites and to those living on the streets.

Bright Mbele, Daniel Nkadimeng, and Edson Nyakonda are all family men who are actively looking for employment.

According to Pastor Gregg, many of these residents were on the streets, some of them have families and have become members of the church.

“We know these guys well. We call out their names when it is time for them to collect their food, and it also brings order, but we do get to know everyone by name,” Gregg said.

These wholesome meals are prepared by the women from the church who are all-round active in outreach ministry.

The project relies on donations and assistance from partnerships of children’s shelters, several ministries, and NPOs and calls on the community to assist in any way possible.

Surprise Ngwenya and Elizabeth Nkomo are some of the regular visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“The need is great, and your donation will go to making a direct difference in someone’s life. Groceries, meat, and vegetables are required to make the food to feed the homeless. We are currently feeding about 1 500 people per month,” Gregg said.

Community members in and around Horison visit the church every Tuesday and Thursday for a wholesome meal.
