Local author writes his third book to give people hope

As an inspirational speaker, he spreads his word of hope and has published three books to continue this message.

Marcus Jacobs has authored a third book to inspire others who are going through terrible situations.

Jacobs explains his road to writing came after watching a movie at 12 years old that inspired him to ‘become a messenger of hope’. Growing up in a Christian household he decided to become a pastor as that was the only way he knew to deliver his message to a large number of people. However, after 15 years as a pastor, he realised his message included all people, from any religion and culture. So he left the ministry to deliver his message to even larger groups as a life strategist.

His first book, Created to create, was published in the late 80s. He explained it was intended as a card for family and friends to give to a loved one going through a difficult time. When he then gave inspirational talks, people would buy copies of his first book.

His second book, Living solutions, came after 30 years. He hopes the book will spread his message of hope by changing people’s perspectives and ways of looking at the world and their difficulties. He says the book inspires the reader to get a renewed mind through which they can perceive a new reality and respond in new ways. He said the inspiration behind the book was the scripture of John 10:10, which states God has come to give people life in abundance.

Now he has written Living perspectives, which are quotes he put together for each day of the year. The idea came after he was a radio presenter for eight years and after the talk he would give people inspirational quotes. He said he thought of each quote by looking at what he has gone through and watching others go through trying times.
He explains he is the author of the books aside from inspiring others through talks, while his wife Michelle, who he’s been married to for 42 years, types the manuscripts and takes care of publishing. They also have two children, both also involved in broadcasting. The duo has lived in the West Rand their whole lives. Michelle adds they have visited other workplaces and when she looks around she just can’t imagine living anywhere else.

Further, they go into informal settlements in the area, where residents have stalls. They then give them mobile carts to sell their products from and grow their business. Marcus also inspires the younger generation with talks on drugs at schools, hoping to inspire further generations.
