Westview Clinic participates in first jumble sale for the year

Many pre-owned items were on display and saw people paying for quality which saved them a lot of money.

Westview Clinic, a rehabilitation clinic offering services related to substance abuse to in and outpatients, held a jumble sale that saw plenty of used items being snatched up by participants in the clinic’s front yard.

It was a great turn-up on July 28, as Westview staff participated in a jumble sale as part of the clinic’s strategy to plough resources back into the organisation.

Items such as glassware, bed frames, soup cups and holders, clothes, and teddy bears (to mention a few) were on display with hopes of finding new homes, with prices ranging from R10 per item.

The jumble sale is not the first of its kind the clinic has hosted, yet it is the first one for the year. According to Anthea Barriel, who is the PR manager for the clinic, they normally host fundraising events such as this jumble sale, since they do rely on donations.

“Today we’ve decided to have a jumble sale as we have received so many donations, so we’ve decided to generate some funds to use the money to buy toiletries for the patients, stuff that we need for the group, for arts and crafts and so forth,” Anthea said.

Nomvula Solani, an auxiliary social worker at the clinic, said it was her first time attending a jumble sale and bought two curtains which were a lot cheaper. “I am very excited about being here today,” she concluded.

The clinic accommodates 40 patients and anyone between the ages of 18 and 34 can receive free treatment.
