Kwandokuhle Mzolo (20) recently won gold at the African Beach Games.
He started paddling at the age of 12 years when he was still in KZN and was a member of the Lembethe Canoe Club. Shortly after matric he joined Soweto Canoe and Recreation Club (SCARC) and has been a member for three years now.
“I’ve competed in five international championships. Four times in Europe, and in Africa where I managed to win a gold medal in Surfski’s 3km kayaking. Before that, at the end of April, I had won nine medals in the South African Canoe Sprint Championship that took place in Germiston Lake,” Kwandokuhle said.
