Prime Circle drummer performs first live solo act in Ruimsig

Dale Schnettler, drummer for Prime Circle, performed live for the first time with his solo act ‘The DrumJ Experience’ at Jessica’s restaurant on June 24.

Dale explained that The DrumJ Experience was inspired by a friend who wanted him to take his drums to his birthday party, where he wanted Dale to play drums to all the songs he played.

“At first I thought it was strange, but it got me thinking. I am a drummer and I DJ. Why not combine the two? I felt like it needed more so I added a lighting show as well,” Dale explained, adding that he never did get to play at his friend’s birthday party, but that he performs at all his friend’s charity events.

Dale chose Jessica’s as the venue because of the great bond of friendship he has with the restaurant’s owners, Jessica Botha and Andries Strydom, and the fact that he is a member of Ruimsig Country Club.

“It was a great opportunity for me to host my show there as Jessica’s has good food, a great vibe and amazing people,” he said.

Chatting about the other ways in which readers can experience his solo act, he said that The DrumJ Experience currently does not have any YouTube footage but there will be footage released within a month or two.

“There are several live shows I’m doing if people would like to experience what I do,” he added.

When discussing how he prepares for shows like the one at Jessica’s, he explained that he spends months preparing backtracks, lights, and the whole production of the show.

“Every show will be a little different as I am always adding new songs to my medleys. I like to do a two hours solid show as people get into the vibe, but just before the show I make sure to do hand warm-ups,” he elaborated.

He will be performing his solo act at Bailey’s in Bedfordview on July 26 and explained that he has been booked for many private events.

“I am always open to any events,” he chuckled.
