Four suspects arrested in Honeydew

Four suspects arrested at car dealership.

On Monday, April 10, four suspects were arrested after an alleged house robbery.

The License Plate Recognition (LPR) system alerted the Mondeor Police Sector 2 to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) of an Audi, that had reportedly been stolen. The Audi had allegedly been used in a house robbery in Sophiatown.

Captain Juanita Yorke, communications officer for Roodepoort Police, explained, “Members of Blue Eye Security Services, Guerilla Tactical Services, and Johannesburg Flying Squad began searching for the vehicle when the LRP system alerted them that the vehicle was driving along Gordon Road. There was a Blue Eye Security Services Special Intervention Unit member patrolling the area who then came across the vehicle. He called for backup and various members of the police and other security companies then immediately responded. The suspects in the vehicle began to flee after having committed the third robbery in Florida. Blue Eye Security Services members began chasing the suspects from the Florida Policing area with various members arriving to give support.”

The suspects allegedly left the vehicle on the side of the road and headed into a car dealership nearby. With the help of numerous security companies, the suspects were cornered and apprehended.

Yorke added, “Various items from the robberies were recovered in the vehicle along with various housebreaking implements. The Audi that was driven by the suspects had also been wanted on a Krugersdorp case, where it had been stolen from the owner. Investigations are ongoing preliminary details are that suspects are wanted on numerous cases.”

The suspects are currently at the Honeydew Police Station and are expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court soon.
