Mark goes above and beyond for his community

"Your collaborative efforts and willingness to work together have been crucial in achieving our goals."

Mark Usher, 38, is the first of many Member of the Month certificate winners for the Civilian Crime Intervention Network’s Operations Control Centre (CCIN OCC) West Rand WhatsApp group.

Mark was in paramedics for roughly seven years and has since started to manage a roadside and accident assistance company. Mark exclaimed that upon receiving the certificate he was surprised and ‘honestly didn’t expect it at all’.

“I think it’s a good idea, it’s uplifting to see that people do appreciate the help from time to time. Especially as some of us do it purely at our own expense and risk. That’s called passion to me,” added Mark.

Corinda Loots, Director at BCI Security, explained how the members of the group have consistently shown a willingness to go above and beyond in supporting each other and ensuring the success of the team.

“Your collaborative efforts and willingness to work together have been crucial in achieving our goals, and I am truly grateful for all that you do and assist for the community,” she explained, “to show our appreciation, BCI Security has decided to recognise and honour one member of the CCIN OCC West group each month with a date night for two at Silverstar Casino’s Hussar Grill to the value of R500. This small gesture is just one way we can say thank you for your hard work and dedication.

“The members of the CCIN OCC West group are strictly vetted and need to be a part of the SAPS, PSIRA registered, emergency organisations or ward councillors to be allowed onto the group,” added Corinda. This means anyone associated with the following organisations or groups is eligible to become a Member of the Month: Saps, CPF, AfriForum, Security companies, Emergency services, and more.

“We choose a member of the month by keeping an eye on the WhatsApp group and noting whoever engages and assists above and beyond what is expected of them,” concluded Corinda.
