SAPS and BCI Security visit Hoërskool Roodepoort

The school learners had an opportunity to meet BCI K9s, Peanut, and Bakwena at the School Awareness Campaign at Hoërskool Roodepoort.

The South African Police Services visited Hoërskool Roodepoort on Thursday, March 16, as part of their School Awareness Campaign.

“Roodepoort Police Corporate Communication, Social Crime Prevention, the Community Policing Forum together with BCI Security are busy conducting a school awareness campaign. About 1 350 learners are being addressed regarding social issues such as drugs and bullying,” stated Captain Juanita Yorke, Roodepoort Police’s spokesperson.

BCI Security’s K9 unit showed the children how they conduct searches, along with their K9s Peanut and Bakwena.

According to Yorke, they hope to have many more talks such as this one to make children aware of the consequences of criminal activity as well as inform children of safety precautions they can take to prevent becoming victims, for instance not walking with earphones in, as you will not be able to hear an attacker coming up from behind.
