NPR celebrates Friendship Day!
"We decided to focus on Friendship Day as it is more age-appropriate for our learners."
On February 14, Nova Pioneer Ruimsig celebrated Friendship Day. Staff and learners dressed in red, pink, and white.
“We decided to focus on Friendship Day as it is more age-appropriate for our learners. Teachers have spent time in the classrooms discussing the qualities of a good friend and ways in which students can show kindness to their friends,” explained Carla Hercules from Nova Pioneer Ruimsig.
Learners exchanged friendship cards and chocolates with friends in the classroom. The teachers also joined in on the celebration by choosing a secret friend they would help feel special from the NPR staff a few weeks before Friendship Day.
On Friendship Day the teachers exchanged their gifts and made cards for their special friends. They were treated with delicious doughnuts and chocolates to make the day special. The learners had a picnic on the playground and also brought chocolates and roses for some of their teachers.
“We were excited to celebrate Friendship Day as it ties in well with one of our Culture Principles, Greater Together. We would like to create a school environment that is happy and safe where students and teachers alike have supportive friendships. This fosters a sense of belonging and unity for both students and teachers. We will continue to carry this theme throughout the year,” concluded Carla.
