Nova Pioneer Ruimsig’s Head of School reflects on the past year

“Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” quote by Mattie JT Stepanek.

Carla Hercules, Head of School at Nova Pioneer Ruimsig, writes:

Teamwork, relationships and collaboration are words that come to mind as I reflect on this year. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the many blessings that our campus has received and enjoyed.
We started off the year with new teachers who graciously welcomed the high expectations that Nova Pioneer places on teammates. They also embraced my personal vision for this campus – which was to foster healthy relationships with their colleagues, parents, and students and to live out our Culture Principle of Greater Together.
Everything that we did as a team, we did so in the spirit of being Greater Together and maintaining a strong team culture.

In January we set a goal of establishing a healthy school culture and climate and creating a learning environment where students, teachers, and parents feel welcomed, supported, and happy. I am excited and proud that we realised this goal reflected in our parent, student, and staff survey results. My hope is that we maintain this precedent in the years to come as we continue to grow. This year we also excitedly welcomed new students to our school. They settled in very quickly and adjusted to the new learning model and school culture. Our students have grown academically, emotionally, and socially throughout the year and we look forward to their continued development in 2023. We are excited to open a Grade 5 class as well.

We organised and hosted many fun and interactive parent engagement activities, like parent exploration mornings, art exhibitions, sports days, soap box derby, family fun days, and many more. These activities gave us the wonderful opportunity to get to know our parents and build strong relationships with them.

Our students also competed in Saturday InterNova Sporting Fixtures with the other Nova Pioneer campuses. In July we were the proud winners of the InterNova Soccer Tournament. We also received the Spirit Trophy at the same tournament for being the most spirited campus as well as displaying good sportsmanship.

I look forward to 2023 with hope and excitement as we create more opportunities for competitive sporting activities, maintain our academic excellence and foster collaborative relationships with the wider community. As our learner enrolment grows, we will also welcome new staff and many new families to Nova Pioneer Ruimsig.
