Poorte announce coaching structure for new season

"It is also a year where we will celebrate the club's 80 years of existence."

In their efforts to bolster their coaching setup ahead of the 2023 season, on Sunday, November 20 Eco Rubber Roodepoort Rugby Club announced their coaching structure for the new season.

1st team Head coach Neil Kalify will be supported by Wesley Pretorius while Shawn Benningfield will be assisted by Ralph Barnard in the 2nd team.

The 3rd team will under the guidance of Jan Goodman with Juan Cornelius taking charge of the coach and match day operations.

The U21 and U19 teams will be under the watchful eye of Ed Booysen and Darren Venton.

“I hereby announce the coaching structure for 2023, I want to thank everyone of them for availing themselves for this task lying ahead. 2023 is going to be a massive year for Eco Rubber Roodepoort Rugby Club, good luck to this team,” said Club Chairperson Theuns Naudé.

The managers for the new season are Carmen Badenhorst, Alcinda Booysen and Wally Botha while Thania van der Lith takes on her role as the team’s physiotherapist.

The pre-season has started for Poorte at the Hoërskool Bastion gym which is exclusively available for the club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm till 8pm.

“After a few weeks of discussions with our Director of Rugby, Neil Kalify, and a few other role players, we have announced the Poorte Coaching Structure for 2023. It is also a year where we will celebrate the club’s 80 years of existence, our aim was to keep some consistency within the club but also make sure that we perform to our best with all our teams,” said Theuns.
