Laerskool Die Ruiter netball team impress at D12 Netball Mini World Cup

The school played five games and immerged victorious in four before they were placed in 2nd place overall.

On Saturday, October 22 Laerskool Die Ruiter participated in the D12 Netball Mini World Cup that was held at Crawford International Ruimsig.

Each of the participating schools had to represent a country and Laerskool Die Ruiter represented South Africa.

The school played five games and emerged victorious in four before they were placed in second place overall.

Laerskool Die Ruiter made it through to the next round that will be played on November 19 and also won best dressed team for the day.

The school congratulated staff members Jean-Elize Marais and Alinka Piscaer as well as their determined team.

“Girls we are so proud of you, thank you Mr Marais for driving us around, making sure we arrived safely, and for giving us the opportunity to participate,” said Marais.

The U11 and U14 age groups competed against various other schools who all represented different countries.

“The day was filled with excitement and great support from our parents, along with awesome dance breaks in between the matches, just like we see in the Telkom Netball League. The games were tough and the competition was fierce, however the girls never fail to show brilliant sportsmanship,” added Marais.

In 2023, the Netball World Cup will be hosted in Cape Town for the first time ever on the African continent.

“This is an amazing opportunity where we would like to see our girls supporting our country,” said Marais.
