Lions honoured for decades of service

The Lions core efforts or ‘Pillars of Service’ are hunger alleviation, vision, diabetes, childhood cancer, environmental issues and the youth.

Kotaku Wamura once said that a person’s most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a heart full of love, an ear ready to listen and a hand ready to help others.

On the evening of Tuesday, October 19 the Lions Club of Wilro Park held another business meeting – but this one was special. It saw several Lions being commended for dedicating their time, energy and resources in efforts of making a positive change in the community for more than two decades now.

District Governor, Syndey van Heerden was excited to present past president, Roleen Hunter with a pin for 25 years of service. Past presidents Shirley Gerhard and Sandy van Heerden were each presented a pin for an astounding 35 years of dedicated service to the Lions Club.

The Lions core efforts or ‘Pillars of Service’ are hunger alleviation, vision, diabetes, childhood cancer, environmental issues and the youth. Although they have dedicated an accumulate total of 95 years to the club, they are eager to continue with their services and to change the lives of those around them.
