COJEMS and Region C heroes take part in annual firefighter games

National event of unity held in Siyabuswa, Mpumalanga.

Firefighters from Region C and City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (CoJEMS) participated in a show of athletic fun.

Celebrating their second anniversary, BrotherhoodClub SA hosted their annual firefighter games at Ga Phaala Stadium on October 1. Firefighters came in large numbers from all provinces to celebrate this milestone as firefighters participated in various games, includes the sack run, egg walk, tug of war, among others. Not reserved just for ‘brothers’, both genders are welcome in the firefighter’s unity group.

“BrotherhoodClub was established with the aim of helping first our own colleagues who might be in need of any assistance,” stated CoJEMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi. As an example of one of their projects, the group built a the house in Daveyton which was handed over to the widow and children of a colleague who passed on following a motor vehicle accident while coming from work.

“The Brotherhood has touched me and my family in a way that no one has. From when we joined hands to do the march against attacks on community services personnel to the cancer awareness walk with the women and paramedics in Groblersdal, This organisation just keeps surpassing my expectations,” said BrotherhoodClub ZA Chairperson, Mandla Nyalungu.

Mandla thanked everyone involved in the planning and implementation of projects, saying, “To the people on the ground who are responsible to make things happen, I am touched and I am blessed and proud to call myself a member of this team”.
