Roodepoort Little Theatre ready to flex your funny bones

Due to limited seating capacity in the intimate basement studio, advance booking is strongly recommended.

They might not be facing midterm elections, but that doesn’t mean Roodepoort Little Theatre (RLT) can’t have their very own October surprise.

RLT will be hosting the Daydreams and Stage Memes show on Friday, October 7 at 19:30, Saturday, and October 8 at 14:30 and 19:30 at the Roodepoort Theatre (Basement Studio).

According to the organisers, in their attempt to warm up those tummy muscles, flex your funny bone and get you chuckling into summer, they’re delighted to bring you their brand-new revue.

Daydreams and Stage Memes will be enjoyed as a light-hearted romp on the boards as RLT’s talented dream team of Andrew Palmer, Ane Kuun, Caitlyn Livesey, Graeme van der Walt, Hannah Jordaan, Kylie Walters, Mary Devine (Saturday shows only), Neil Margetts and Oriela van der Walt entertain you with crazy comic sketches, mirthful monologues and marvellous musical moments.

Each show ends with “The Ending”, a hilarious short play about a desperate playwright frantically trying to find the perfect (and literally lifesaving) closing line for his perfect play.

A highlight of the recent Franklin & Friends One-Act Play Festival, “The Ending” features guest performers Hennie Greyvenstein, Traci Scerri, Mervin Lowe and RLT’s Graham Shirley.

Tickets will cost R100 per person, R80 for pensioners, students and scholars, and R70 for block bookings of 10 or more.

Due to limited seating capacity in the intimate basement studio, advance booking is strongly recommended.

Subject to availability, tickets will be on sale at the Main Theatre’s box office. Bookings to be made on www.roodepoorttheatre.com.

Earlier in September guests gathered at RLT’s farewell function for Mary Devine that was organised by Nichola Forbes, Mary Devine and Roy Wilkinson.

Members of the community are reminded that the last chance to catch Mary in action on the SA stage will be the October 8 performances of Daydreams and Stage Memes.
