Local artist releases Daydreams

Kyle has more than 10 years experience in the music business and graduated with honours from the Wits School of Arts with a BMus.

Kyle September, a local musician, released his debut album in August. Kyle said he’d known he wanted to be a musician “… since the first time I heard music”.

According to the 32-year-old, the album took him four years to complete. “The Covid pandemic added two years to the process.”

Kyle said the idea behind the album, as with all his music, is to allow audiences to escape the troubles of their daily lives … if only for a little while.

“Daydream is a metaphor for the idea of escapism that is promoted throughout the album,” he explained. “It is also a concept album that tells a story about a relationship, from the initial meet-cute to the obstacles and challenges the couple face as time progresses. It explores the wonders and dangers of escaping into each other.”

Kyle’s original songs are on the album, and he admitted that picking a favourite was difficult.

Cuddle Up, the album’s fourth single is currently charting on various major radio stations and follows in the footsteps of his previous singles, Little Things, Sweetness, and Analog Heart, all of which were extremely well received; a good indication of what can be expected of the rest of the content.

His main focus after the pandemic is to get back on stage and perform as much as possible, in addition to being a part-time sports coach and writing new music for his next album – particularly with his new full band set-up.

The singer-songwriter is grateful to everyone who has supported his career thus far and hopes that his debut release will make them proud.

“As previously mentioned, I want my songs to make people forget about their worries. Beyond this, if my music can connect with someone on a personal level, relate to something they’re going through and help them with that, that is first prize for me,” concluded Kyle.
