Poorte pays sad tribute to former player
Present at the service were the players, team manager, coaches and the club’s Executive Committee.
The entire EcoRubber Roodepoort Rugby Club and all their sponsors as well as supporters passed their condolences onto Brandon Wayne Bowker’s friends and family after the former U/20 player died following a pedestrian accident.
Brandon was hit by a car on Friday night, August 12 and died in hospital the following day.
He was 18 years old and an only child. His funeral service was held on Friday, August 19 at the Nuwe Begin Gemeente in Newlands.
EcoRubber Roodepoort Rugby Club members in their club shirts attended the funeral and stood in a guard of honour at the church and at West Park cemetery.
“Brandon was one of the rising stars in a team filled with great talent. Rugby came as a second nature for Brandon and he was a coachable player.
“We at EcoRubber Roodepoort Rugby Club are going to miss Brandon very much. May his soul rest in peace,” said the club’s U/20 team manager, Jaco Jooste.
