Leaders against bullying meet at Kloofendal Nature Reserve

This year the leaders have been given speech therapy to help them improve their communication skills and be able to articulate themselves.

Saturday, August 6 saw the Ipeleng Cares Foundation’s (ICF) leaders against bullying take on an organised hike at Kloofendal Nature Reserve from 8:00 to 14:00.

According to ICF founder Ipeleng Mofokeng, the main purpose of the hike was for the leaders against bullying group of 2022 to meet for the first time since the programme started in June.

On the day, the leaders were treated to lunch and a hiking snack pack as they interacted and got to know more about each other.

“On August 6 we organised a hike for two groups; the leaders against bullying level one which is for the first-year leaders, and the leaders against bullying level two which is for the second-year leaders. The purpose of the hike was to get the leaders to meet with one another. We have intentionally included excursions in our programme so that the leaders can improve their social skills and social competency,” said Mofokeng.

“After the 1.8km hike, participants did activities that allowed them to get to know each other.”

She said the excursions really helped the leaders with confidence, and previous leaders had shown great improvement.

“We are starting to see the results of this programme and the therapy because children who used to be shy are now free and comfortable when expressing themselves.

“For the last four months the leaders also received occupational therapy from our in-house occupational therapist and they were guided how to manage their day-to-day schedules as well as their emotional well-being,” she said.

On September 24, ICF will be hosting their first annual Fleurhof Heritage Fun Walk and Cup in collaboration with the local Infinity Soccer Club.

Stalls will be available on the day to give the community and business owners the opportunity to get exposure.

ICF is appealing to the community to support the event in terms of sponsorships, and those wishing to do so are encouraged to contact Ipeleng Mofokeng on 073 911 5460; or send an email to ipeleng86@gmail.com.
