Animals and Children in Need makes a call for donations

The charity is looking for secondhand clothing for ages one to 21, toiletries such as sanitary pads, soap, baby powder and so on, and cat food (dry and soft), blankets, food and water bowls.

Animals and Children in Need – a new charity in our area – is hosting their first donation drive to benefit two charity organisations each month.

This month Wings of Inspiration and Olivedale Corner Ferals are the lucky beneficiaries of the drive.

Founder of Animals and Children in Need, Serah Dunn, said she always wanted to give back to the community, “I’ve reached the point where I’m so tired of working and there’s nothing good coming out of it. So this is something I want to focus on.”

She went on to explain the reason why she chose these two charities for her first drive.

“I’ve just started this. I’m going to start with small organisations, and came across Wings while I was looking for children and animal shelters within our area. I posted on ‘I love Fourways’ about wanting to do the drive, and asked for suggestions about who the beneficiaries should be. People commented on the post ‘Check them out,’ and I thought ‘okay, well, let me help them as well’.”

While Serah had just finalised all the legalities pertaining to her NPO, she said this was something she wanted to pursue for years. “I got all my documents today. Animals and Children in Need is officially registered as an NPO,” explained Serah.

Although the charity is her baby, she wants it to grow with her family.

Serah is looking for secondhand clothing for ages one to 21, toiletries such as sanitary pads, soap, baby powder and so on, and cat food (dry and soft), blankets, food and water bowls.

Items can be dropped off at Hogshead Rock Cottage on Saturdays from 12:00 to 16:00. To get into contact with Serah or donate to the drive, send her a message on 082 514 1421.
