Two organisations work together in the spirit of Ubuntu

According to the organisers, they had a successful Mandela Day and achieved everything they had planned.

To commemorate Nelson Mandela Day two organisations joined hands on Monday July 18 while they spent their 67 minutes feeding communities in need.

The Saeed Foundation collaborated with Communities Unite Foundation (CUF) and they worked together to uplift, and to ensure the spirit of Ubuntu within their communities.

On the day, the Saeed Foundation distributed 2 000 hot meals and 1 000 party packs to the children at the Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre while CUF made available 1 000 fruit packs.

CUF aims to assist all communities from every discipline and culture by alleviating hunger and restoring dignity through the distribution of food and dignity packs with a view to making a difference in the lives of individuals and the greater community at large.

The Saeed Foundation based at Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre has been servicing the community of this area as well as Westbury, Newclare, Coronation and surrounding areas.

According to the organisers, they had a successful Mandela Day and achieved everything they had planned.

Present on the day were Shawhaal de Villiers who is the founder of CUF, and Saeed Abrahams who is the founder of the Saeed Foundation.

Every year on July 18 South Africans and the international community honour former President and international icon, the late Nelson Mandela through International Nelson Mandela Day.

This is a day of humanitarian action in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy, as well as a catalyst to encourage everyone to change the world through voluntary community work.

Nelson Mandela spent 67 years of his life advancing the struggle for the liberation of all South Africans, black and white, from political, social and economic division.
