Pink bras for warriors

Warriors with a Purpose celebrated Mandela Day at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, and it was amazing.

On Monday, July 18 Warriors with a Purpose (WWAP) paid a special visit to the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital’s Oncology Unit.

This was part of the Pink Bra Project, which was initiated by WWAP founder, Renée Singh.

“We wanted to support the women fighting against cancer and give them hope and support after having undergone a mastectomy or other surgery. We wanted to make them still feel fabulous, beautiful and amazing,” she said.

That’s why Renée, together with 2022 Entrepreneur of the Year finalist, Aladia Mahomed raised 67 bras which were distributed among the fighters who are battling breast cancer.

She also emphasised the words of Mrs South Africa finalist, Tasnim Young-Norris who said, “As women, looking good is something we always want to do. Having the pink bra, if you haven’t had any reconstructive surgery definitely gives you confidence.”

Tasnim is a breast cancer and GBV survivor who is also an advocate for the Pink Bra Project.

Hospital CEO, Gladys Bogoshi spoke a few words to motivate and give some hope to those fighting the cancer battle. Miss Pre-Teen Universe South Africa finalist, Cyrilique Koopman and owner and principal of Teddy Bear Montessori, Preshanie Maharaj also joined in the celebrations.

According to Renée the Pink Bra Project will continue until October, which means there’s still some time for the community to participate in the cause. If you want to contribute or if you want to know more, feel free to contact Ney on 064 684 7915.
