Muffins to send learners to matric farewell

Even though they did not manage to reach their target, they still made an impressive amount of R2 500 which means they can send three learners to the matric farewell.

On Saturday, July 2 the Rietvallei Nursery invited the community to a Freshly Baked Muffin Drive which was held at the nursery in support of a very worthy cause.

According to nursery owner, Marna le Roux this project was aimed at assisting underprivileged matric learners.

“We have decided to support the Matric Class of 2022 by donating the funds raised to Hoërskool Bastion. We hope that they would be able to use it to make one of the most beautiful days of high school possible for a few boys and girls in need. We want to help these learners attend their matric farewell,” she said.

Their target for the day was R4 800 which is equivalent to sending six matric learners to attend the once in a lifetime event. In preparation for the Muffin Drive, Marna and her dedicated team used 20kg of muffin mix to bake the load.

Even though they did not manage to reach their target, they still made an impressive amount of R2 500 which means they can send three learners to the matric farewell.

“We did way better than I thought we would, and for that we are truly grateful. We would like to thank everyone who supported us on the day by stopping by to purchase some of the baked goods. Every person who bought a muffin played a part in making a teen’s dream come true,” Marna said.

She hopes to raise more funds by facilitating several projects before mid-October when the farewell is expected to take place. If you would like to lend a helping hand, or find out more, you can contact Marna on 064 908 2991.
