Locals invited to exciting market and pet parade

Attendees can look forward to a wide variety of goods that are proudly South African and skilfully made.

For more than 100 years the Horison Methodist Church has been a beacon of hope for the community.

Since its congregation mostly consists of pensioners with only a limited amount of funds available, it has become increasingly difficult to keep the church and its various community projects afloat.

In an effort to raise funds, they decided to host an exciting Christmas in July Market and Pet Parade. According to one of the organisers, Nicci Clausen, the idea of the market is not only to raise funds, but also to support local small businesses.

“We haven’t been able to host similar markets for the past two years due to the pandemic, and that’s why we’re hoping to come back with a bang. As Christmas is generally regarded as a very happy and festive period, we hope to provide that same level of festiveness, but only in July,” Nicci said.

Attendees can look forward to a wide variety of goods that are proudly South African and skilfully made. These include clothing, cosmetics, jewellery and of course some yummy traditional market foods to name just a few. The little ones can also expect a jumping castle to keep them entertained while mom and dad explore everything on offer.

“There will even be something for the pet lovers too. So, whether you have a dog, cat, bird, snake or chicken, you can bring them along to enter the Pet Parade competition. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there,” another organiser, Vanessa Killian said.

This competition will have various categories including best-dressed pet, pet/ owner lookalike, most unusual pet, most obedient, and best trick.
