Help find Ebenezer Psychiatric Home resident

Last night was one of the coldest nights if the year and Henning as well as the Record/Northsider urges the community to be on the lookout for a gentleman with grey hair, dark brown eyes, and an amputated leg wearing dark jeans and a blue shirt.

An Ebenezer Psychiatric Home resident has gone missing on Tuesday, June 14 after walking to the shops at around 17:00.

Barend Paul Gericke, who goes by the name Bertus, has not returned to the home on Ham Street in Witpoortjie since. He only has one leg, but moves very quickly on his crutches.

“He was been with us for over a month and a half, and is a very quiet person,” explained Charmaine Hennings, director of Ebenezer Psychiatric Home. She had been in contact with his family members and they confirmed that he was not with them.

He bought a new SIM card on Tuesday morning, and in the afternoon he said he wanted to go to Pick n Pay or a shop around the corner from the home, but never returned.

Last night was one of the coldest nights of the year and Hennings as well as the Record/ Northsider urge the community to be on the lookout for the 48-year-old man with grey hair, dark-brown eyes, and an amputated leg, wearing dark jeans and a blue shirt.

“If you see him please contact me immediately on 082 434 7235,” Hennings urged the community.
