Dorah’s Ark receives a donation from church members

“Donations like these are what keep Dorah's Ark afloat. We feed people daily without funding because of donations like these."

n Saturday, June 11 Dorah’s Ark Children’s Home received a donation of food from the Celestial Church of Christ Zion Parish South Africa (CCC Zion Parish SA) based in Kya Sand, Randburg as part of the church’s Welfare Community Donations Programme.

The home takes care of more than 40 orphaned and vulnerable children within the centre, and also share their food with children from the surrounding informal settlements through the afterschool food programme when they drop in for a plate of food before going home.

“Donations like these are what keep Dorah’s Ark afloat. We feed people daily without funding because of donations like these,” said Thabo Radebe who is a volunteer at the home.

According to Thabo the home hasn’t been funded yet due to Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) not having given them their lease.

“That’s one of the criteria for funding, although we have occupied the building for more than 20 years now,” said Thabo.

CCC Zion Parish Kya Sand is a church dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and reassuring the community of its unwavering support.

Before the handover of the food items, the church requested Dorah’s Ark to accept a token from the church members as an offering of Welfare Community Donations.

“All of us in CCC Zion Parish want to appreciate Dorah’s Ark for giving us the opportunity to give back. May the Lord continue to guide and protect the home in Jesus Name.

“Welfare and charity make up one of the key pillars of our ministry, through the assistance of our church Patron Superior Evangelist Richard Adelu who secured and built a church for us to worship at Kya Sand. Giving back to the community is the least we can do to appreciate God for his mercies,” said Church Parish Secretary H/S Evangelist Kester Akinpelumi.

Last year in June the church donated some food items to Thandanani House of Refuge in Zandspruit.
