One killed in Roodepoort fire

When the Record enquired with the Roodepoort police, their spokesperson Captain Juanita York confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened and is currently under investigation.

A man sustained fatal injuries following a structure fire that was reported in Roodepoort North on Tuesday evening May 31.

According to ER24 paramedics, when they arrived at the scene shortly before 18:00, they found the fire department in attendance and the fire already extinguished.

Unfortunately, a man who was found inside the structure showed no signs of life and was declared dead at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to the paramedics but police were on the scene to investigate.

City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi told the Record that they responded to the incident but the cause of the fire was still a subject of investigations.
