CoJEMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, confirmed the cause of the fire was still unknown but urged residents to use their heating devices with care.

“We are seeing an increase in terms of the number of fire incidents due to the fact that residents are using heating devices to warm themselves and in the process making themselves vulnerable to fire incidents. Residents are encouraged to look after heating devices and not leave them unattended while in use,” stated Mulaudzi.
