Honeydew Police members honoured for outstanding efforts

“We believe in giving recognition where it is due and we want to congratulate every one of these officers for the outstanding effort they have made."

On Friday, March 4 members or the community were reminded of the Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) Goodwill Shield. The Goodwill Shield used to be handed to officers at Honeydew Police Station who deserved recognition for outstanding service, but was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Michael Steyn, Honeydew CPF PRO they have decided to bring it back to honour those officers who go above and beyond their duties.

The award for the month of January did not go only to one person but to an entire team of officers from Honeydew Police Station.

They were responsible for breakthroughs in two important cases in which arrests were made during the month of January 2022.

The first case was a robbery at a bottle store at Rock Cottage. After leads were followed they managed to arrest three suspects which were linked to the crime.

In the second case, four suspects were arrested after days of observation and following up on leads.

These suspects were involved in a spate of filling station robberies which stretched over a few weeks in and around the Honeydew Precinct.

“We believe in giving recognition where it is due, and we want to congratulate every one of these officers for the outstanding effort they have made.

“As a small token of our appreciation we are giving these officers a R300 gift voucher each which has been sponsored by the Panorama Residents Association (PRA).

“Well done to this team; we can’t wait to see who the next recipient will be for the Month of February,” said Steyn.
