Spreading cupcake love

The fundraiser, which was held on February 14, saw each learner 'sponsor' a cupcake.

There is nothing purer than one child wishing another well, especially if they’ve been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease.

Tuesday, February 15 was International Childhood Cancer Day and in support of this very worthy cause, Inspirando Academy hosted a fitting fundraiser. What better way to support the deserving little ones than with delicious Cupcakes of Hope?

The fundraiser, which was held on February 14, saw each learner ‘sponsor’ a cupcake. With each sponsor came the opportunity to dress up for the special day of love.

Since the private primary school relocated from Kromdraai in January, this was their first fundraising initiative in the Roodepoort area.

“Teacher Tylene Lawrence and I baked the cupcakes and we are happy that we’ve received quite a few orders from especially parents and other supporters. The funds raised will now go towards Cupcakes of Hope – an organisation supporting children with cancer,” said principal Alison Tumbev, who supported the initiative.

Needless to say, the school yard was filled with red, pink and white and tasty Valentine’s cupcakes were enjoyed in high spirits.

“We as a community school are honoured to be a part of International Childhood Cancer Day. We thank all those who made an effort to order a cupcake and partake in this special cause. We are looking forward to hosting similar fundraising events in the future,” Alison concluded.
