Kitty Kazz on a furry path to success

Muldersdrift kitten rescue, Kitty Kazz has successfully homed 163 cats and kittens since they opened their doors in May. This means they are homing an average of 15 to 20 kittens a month, which is quite a feat for an NPO that is barely a year old.

“Kittens are most popular and home quite easily,” said founder and owner, Karin Donald. “We struggle to home adults and even teenagers, and we appeal to the public to open their hearts and homes to these cats too. They also deserve to be loved, and once they are settled they will not take up too much room.”

She explained that the shyest cats in the shelter often make the best of friends.

Kitty Kazz not only professionally re-homes cats and kittens. “We insist on home inspections, a questionnaire needs to be completed, and our terms and conditions need to be agreed to and signed. All our cats and kittens are tested for FIV/FELV, they are vaccinated, de-wormed, treated for ticks and of course microchipped.”

Kittens are sterilised at five months old and they continue to follow up with all the families to ensure bookings are made with a vet. “It is our job to ensure that they find the best home where they will be loved unconditionally and become part of the family,” Karin said.

The rescue centre is able to keep operating by donors who support them financially or by donating food and supplies. Recently, Rademeyer Attorneys donated cat supplies for Christmas. “It has lasted so long and will still last another month. We are so grateful to them.”
