One man killed in early Friday morning accident in Witpoortjie
Five others treated for moderate to serious injuries
A violent collision has claimed the life of one man on December 17.
A light motor vehicle and panel van struck each other head-on just before 05:00 on Friday at the Corlett Avenue and Java Street intersection. Several first responders arrived on scene to find the panel van in the road with the light motor vehicle across the street. A man was unfortunately trapped inside the cabin of the light motor vehicle while five other individuals had removed themselves from the vehicles.
“Medics assessed the patients and found that the entrapped patient had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. The five other patients had sustained serious to moderate injuries,” confirmed ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring. Paramedics treated the patients on scene before transporting them to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
While details around the incident are still unknown, investigations are underway by the authorities who attended the scene.
