Bell of Hope cyclists ride for mental wellness

On Sunday, October 24 a number of avid cyclists took to two wheels in efforts of supporting the Ebenezer Psychiatric Home’s annual Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness.

The sheer enjoyment of riding a bicycle was topped with the satisfaction that comes with helping those in need. The event was held at Valverde Country Hotel in the Cradle of Humankind, and served to raise funds for the sustainment of the psychiatric home.

This home is a licensed non-profit organisation taking care of fully functional adults suffering from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. They depend on donations and assistance from the public and corporate sectors to keep the home open and functional.

“The Bell of Hope Charity Ride for Mental Wellness 2021 was a fantastic, successful and a fun-filled charity event. Prizes galore were handed out to participants, many of whom said they would support us again next year,” event organiser, Kerry von Buddenbrock said.

“The funds raised are enough to sustain Ebenezer House for a while; however there is always room for more. Next year will be our 10th annual event and we will make it even bigger to celebrate its true purpose – to raise funds for Ebenezer House and help remove the stigma attached to mental illness.”

Kerry and her team would like to thank all sponsors who generously donated various prizes for the cyclists and helped to make the day remarkable and memorable.
