A man was taken to hospital after being assaulted in his home on October 5.
Police have yet to confirm the particulars of the incident but based on reports from community security groups, three men gained access to the property by posing as government officials. Neatly dressed and carrying paperwork and a clipboard, three thugs entered the Drakenstein Street property shortly before 15:00 under the guise of evaluating electricity infrastructure.
Once inside, the armed men assaulted their victim before leaving with an undisclosed number of items. A female occupant was also home at the time but reports suggest she was able to lock herself in a bedroom to avoid harm. The robbers were travelling in a grey Volkswagen hatchback and should residents encounter a suspicious vehicle of this description, they are asked to contact police or their security company immediately.
